Make a note of this date in your agenda: starting next Thursday, March 14, you can buy the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 with attractions such as an infinity screen with a drop-shaped notch, a reflective design, a double camera with 48 megapixels on its main sensor and a battery that can last a day and a half with heavy use. On that day, the basic model of the range will go on sale, consisting of 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal space, at a special price of 150 euros limited to the first 5,000 units. When they are sold out, they will have a final price of 180 euros. For 20 euros more, and the following week, you can get the top model of 4 GB plus 64 GB, the option that I personally recommend.
As we have had the opportunity to test it before it goes on sale, we have decided to offer you a list of tweaks and tricks that may remain hidden from the average user. This list of 10 tricks for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 will serve the owner of this new mobile to be able to get all the possible juice. Do not forget to add it to favorites and consult it every time you need it.
How to take a screenshot
To take a screenshot with your Redmi Note 7 you can do two things:
First, activate the gestures on the screen corresponding to the capture to take it, for example, by passing three fingers over it. To do this, we enter the mobile settings and go to the 'Additional settings' section within 'System and device'. Here we go to 'Shortcuts to buttons and gestures' and then 'Take screenshot'. We recommend activating 'Swipe down 3 fingers' as this way you can hide the buttons on the screen and you will not need them for gestures.
Another way to take a screenshot is to press and hold the lock / unlock button and the volume down button at the same time. You must keep them pressed until the capture is effective, with an animation similar to that of taking a photograph. If you want the screenshot to cover the entire length of the web page, once you do it, quickly, click on it and, at the bottom of it, click on the 'Scroll' icon .
How to activate on-screen gestures
Thanks to MIUI, Xiaomi users can hide the typical back, home screen and multitasking buttons to use gestures instead to gain space on the screen. It is something that we highly recommend, because that way we will have a totally immersive experience without annoying buttons having to appear constantly. To activate the gestures and hide the buttons we are going to do the following.
We are going to go to the mobile settings and in 'System and device' we press 'Full screen'. Next we mark 'full screen gestures'. We can see a small tutorial in which we will be taught to use gestures. It is very simple and in a few minutes you will get used to this new mechanic that beautifies the aesthetics of your mobile screen.
How to display the notification icons in the bar
One of the main problems that the MIUI newbie encounters when they start using the layer for the first time is related to notifications. Specifically, with the icon that must appear to identify them. Simply, the user must activate an option on the phone to be seen. If you do not activate it, the notification will appear with a three-dot symbol and will not identify which application it is. Singularities, without a doubt, of this layer of personalization.
For the mobile to show the icons of the applications in the notifications we have to enter the settings, then we go to 'Notifications and status bar' and, finally, we activate the switch ' Show icons of incoming notifications '. Make sure you have this switch on, otherwise you will not identify the notifications correctly.
How to change the notification bar shortcuts
When we deploy the notification curtain, we find a series of shortcuts that are very useful to turn on, turn off and access different device connections such as GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, screen rotation, flashlight, etc. First, with a finger gesture, we find the first five icons. Here you should place the ones you use the most, such as WiFi or mobile data. But if you make a second gesture, the curtain unfolds and we can see more icons, in total, up to twelve. And if we slide the screen to the right, some more. How can we modify the icons, hide them and place them in a different order? Very easy.
When sliding the screen to the right over the shortcuts we will have found an icon with the title 'Edit'. We click on it. A new screen will open where we can begin to change the site icons, hide them by dragging them to the bottom of the screen or prioritizing them at the top of it.
How to activate the emergency SOS function
In the new Redmi Note 7 we have a function within its settings that can save our lives. This is 'emergency SOS'. Thanks to this new feature, we can add different emergency contacts so that the mobile can contact them by pressing the power button five times. In this way, a text message will be sent to the emergency contacts you have selected with your detailed location so that they can locate you quickly and efficiently.
Likewise, we can send, in addition to the text message, our call history in the previous hour. To add emergency contacts, you just have to press where indicated in the previous screenshot. Of course, make sure your emergency contacts know that you have assigned them that responsibility so that they are on notice.
How to clean our Redmi Note 7 in two gestures
Yes, you read it right. In just two gestures we will be able to clean our mobile of unnecessary files so that it runs smoothly and we have more space for our photos and videos. To do this, we are going to open multitasking by moving our finger from the bottom edge of the phone to the center of the screen, keeping the finger pressed at the end for a few moments. Once you see multitasking, at the top, you will have a series of shortcuts to perform different functions. Press the first icon and you will access the cleaner that will start automatically.
How to hide the notch on screen
Do you prefer to have a mobile with a more 'normal' design without a notch? Although the Redmi Note 7 itself is quite small, there are users who prefer to have a slightly thicker frame and not see the notch on the front of the screen. For these types of users, Xiaomi offers the possibility of hiding it through an adjustment in the system itself, thus avoiding having to download third-party applications. To do this, you just have to enter the settings, then the 'Full screen' option and, at the top, activate 'Hide notch'. The process will be done immediately and the notch will have disappeared. To make it reappear, you'll need to turn the switch off again.
A perfect shortcut for app tuning
A trick that remains hidden for many users and that, if we get used to it, can make our lives much easier in relation to the use of our phone. With a couple of gestures we will be able to enter the application settings. We will enter a screen where the list of all the applications that we have installed on our mobile will appear, being able to close them, manage their storage, and permissions granted. In addition, on this same screen, we have a series of icons at the top to update the MIUI applications, uninstall those that we do not use, manage the dual applications that we have created or enter the permissions screen where we can prevent some applications from starting just by turning on the phone, thus avoiding unnecessary energy expenditure.
To access this shortcut we are going to enter multitasking (you know, finger gesture from the bottom of the mobile to the center of the screen, holding the gesture for a few moments) and we look at the 'X' icon that appears more down. If we press it once, we will close all the applications that we have open, thus gaining RAM memory. But if we hold down this same button for a moment, the application management window will open.
Disable background apps
Every time we open an application, Android keeps it in the background, open, so that when we open it again it does not take long to do so and our terminal responds faster. That is why it is convenient that we buy a mobile with, at least, 3 GB of RAM: the more space to house the memory of the applications, the greater the battery performance. But, in turn, the more open applications we have in the background, the more battery it will use.
To avoid that some applications, unnecessarily, remain open in the background we are going to go to the battery section on our mobile. In the settings, click on 'Battery and performance' under 'System and device'. In ' Select applications ' we are going to choose those tools that we do not need to be open continuously, such as Facebook or other social networks. We will leave in the background those that do need it, such as WhatsApp or Gmail.
How to take 48 megapixel photos
One of the great attractions of the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is to be able to take images of up to 48 megapixels. One of the great advantages of taking photos of such a size is to then cut out a segment that interests you without losing as much quality as would happen using digital zoom. If you thought that the 48 megapixel option was activated by default in this terminal, you are wrong. To take the photo in this quality we must do the following.
We go to the rear camera application and press the menu button with three stripes in the upper right. In the small drop-down bar we will press the icon corresponding to the 48 MP and that's it. During this shot we will not be able to zoom.
