After having been on the market for several months, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite has become a big seller along with the Mi 10 Lite, the economic version of the mythical Xiaomi Mi 10. Both terminals accumulate tens of thousands of ratings on pages such as Amazon or PC components. It is a fact, the interest of the two devices on the Internet has skyrocketed since their arrival in Spain to 90% according to data from Google Trends. For this reason we have made a compilation of several tricks of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite and Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite to get the most out of the functions and possibilities offered by the two phones of the Asian firm.
Improve the quality of photos on Mi 10 Lite and Mi Note 10 Lite with Google Camera
We have already talked countless times about the benefits of Google Camera. The Google application brings the algorithm of Pixel phones to any device with a Snapdragon processor. From Portrait mode to Night mode, through HDR + and Astrophotography modes.
The process is as simple as selecting the name of the device and the type of ROM that we want to install (Global Stable, China Beta…). Finally, the tool will show us a list of all the available versions of MIUI for the phone that we have selected.
Once we have downloaded the ROM, we can install it through the Software update section in Settings, specifically through the Select update package option that can be seen in the following screenshot:
Now we will only have to select the ROM that we have just downloaded to proceed with its installation, although the ideal is to create a folder with the name of 'downloaded_rom' (without the quotes) so that the system automatically detects the package.
Lock apps on the Mi Note 10 Lite with a password
With a password, with the face or with the fingerprint of our finger. The process is as simple as going to the Android Settings, specifically the Applications section. Within this menu we will click on Application Lock. Now we will only have to mark all those applications whose access we want to veto, as we can see in the screenshot below. WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, Gallery, Messages…
Finally, the wizard will allow us to configure the blocking method that we want to use to access the applications that we have just blocked.
Play YouTube videos in the background without external applications
Did you know that you can play any YouTube video in the background without having a YouTube Premium subscription or using third-party applications? So is. And more specifically through the Xiaomi Music application.
Once we have accessed the application in question, we will click on the View option in the bottom bar. Now we just have to log in with a valid Google account to access the web version of YouTube. After clicking on any video on the platform, the content will begin to play in the application as if it were the official application. To keep the video playing in the background we will go to the MIUI desktop, where we will be shown a small player in the form of a pop-up window that will allow us to pause and advance the playback.
Use your Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite as a remote control
Change channels on the television, change the temperature of the air conditioning or increase the volume of the radio. Thanks to the infrared sensor of the Mi 10 Lite we can use the phone as if it were a remote control.
We can access this function through the application of My Remote or My Remote. Within the application we will select the type of device that we want to configure. Later, the tool will guide us through a series of steps that will help us to check the compatibility of the device with the device that we want to control remotely. It should be noted that the range of action is more limited than that of a conventional control, as it has a smaller sensor.
Activate MIUI hidden settings in Camera app
MIUI 11 has a series of hidden settings in the Camera application that allow us to play with different image parameters. To access these settings we will have to previously create a configuration file through a file explorer that allows us to create files. The tool that we recommend from tuexperto.com is Cx Explorer, which we can download for free from the Play Store.
Inside the file browser we will navigate to the DCIM folder that we can find in the root of the storage. Next, we will create a file with the following name:
- lab_options_visible
After this, the Camera application will enable a section called Additional Settings in which we can find a multitude of new functions, as we can see in the image below.
Specifically, the list of hidden functions is as follows:
- Internal "magic" tools
- Activate SR
- Enable parallel processing
- Activate quick shot animation
- Face detection
- Hide the face detection frame automatically
- Beautify photos in Portrait mode
- Activate dual camera
- Activate MFNR
Change the virtual size of the Mi Note 10 Lite screen
Controlling the mobile with one hand is increasingly complex due to the screen size of the devices. The good news is that MIUI has a function that allows us to change the screen size to improve one-handed control. We can find this setting within the Additional Settings section in the MIUI Settings application.
Next, we will navigate to the One-hand Mode option. Now the application will allow us to select three screen sizes, one of 3.5 inches, another of 4 inches and another of 4.5 inches (the size may vary depending on the phone model). If we want to activate and deactivate this function without resorting to the Settings application we will have to slide our finger from the central part of the screen to the left or right corner at the bottom.
It should be noted that this feature is not compatible with system gestures, so we will have to resort to the classic on-screen buttons.
Duplicate the screen of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite on a Smart TV
Today, Xiaomi does not have mobile phones in its catalog with a USB 3.1 connection, the standard that allows us to connect any device to a television or monitor to see the expanded image. Fortunately, MIUI 11 has a function that allows us to duplicate the screen on a smart TV.
To access this function we will have to go to the MIUI Settings application, specifically to the Connection and sharing section. Within this menu we will navigate to the Issue option. Now the wizard will begin to perform a WiFi search using televisions compatible with the Screen Mirroring function. Once our television is detected, the image will begin to be displayed directly on the screen, from applications to audio and videos.
