EMUI 10, the new version of Huawei's customization layer, is already present in a wide variety of devices, such as the Huawei P30, the Mate 20 series, Huawei Nova 5T and recently the Huawei P Smart 2019. This new version, which It runs under Android 10, it has great news. These focus on a new design in the applications and interface, but there are also very interesting options that we can take advantage of a lot. Here are 10 tricks for EMUI 10 that you should not miss.
Record screen
We can record the screen of our terminal with EMUI 10, and there are two ways to do it. The first is from the option that we see in the upper notification area, in the direct access section. We just have to click on the icon and the screen will start recording. There is also another way to record the screen of our terminal, and this is possibly the most useful. It consists of making a double tap with the knuckles on the screen to start recording. This option may be disabled by default, it is enabled in Settings> Accessibility features> Shortcuts and gestures> Record screen. Then activate this option.
Emergency call
Have you had an incident and need to call 911? This option is very useful if you suffer a fall or other accident and need to quickly contact emergency services. It consists of pressing the power button 5 times and waiting 3 seconds for the terminal to carry out the necessary steps, without having to do anything. Of course, first you must fill in your emergency data and activate the option in system settings problems, since it is deactivated by default.
To do this, you must go to Settings> Security> SOS Emergency. Next, click on the text that says 'Emergency information'. There you should add your name, address and other medical information that may be useful, such as your blood pressure, if you take any medication, if you have allergies or more. You can also select emergency contacts in case you have any kind of problem.
Now, when you press the power button five times in a row, the option will be activated. You can cancel before the 3 seconds are up.
Check your account passwords
When you add an account on your Huawei mobile in any app, the device allows you to save the password in your terminal so that you can quickly log in. If you add this option, it is likely that you forget what password you put in the account, but there is a section in the settings where you can see the password for each account.
Go to Settings> Security> Password manager. Then enter your device PIN. There will appear all the accounts in which you have signed in on your device. The email will appear, and if you click on each application you will see the password. Huawei will allow you to remove that account from the device if you prefer. You can also deactivate this manager from the main screen, within the option.
Speed up animations
EMUI 10 comes with new animations that very well simulate a screen with a frequency of 90 Hz. They are much more fluid and striking. You may be interested in speeding up these animations even more, and the truth is that there is a way through the development settings.
First you need to activate the development options. To do this, we go to Settings> About phone and click several times on the option that says 'Build number '. Later, we will have to put the PIN of our terminal. We go back to the settings and click on the option that says 'System and updates' and then on 'Developer options'.
Scroll down to the Drawing section and change the animation scales to 0.5. You will see that now they are much faster.
Schedule power on and off
A simple trick that can be very useful: program the on and off. What can this be for? To save battery life on your device, for example, since you can turn it off overnight and turn it on in the morning, useful if you can't charge the device.
To schedule power on, go to Settings> Accessibility features> Scheduled power on / off. Then, activate the option and select the on time and the off time. Remember that, as the device starts up again, you will have to enter the SIM card PIN, as well as the password.
How to view web pages in dark mode
One of the most outstanding features of EMUI 10 is the dark mode, but the truth is that activating it is not a trick, since we find the option in the shortcuts and in the Screen section, in the system settings. But… did you know that we can see the web pages we visit in dark mode? This is how it is done.
First of all, it will be necessary to have the Huawei browser, which comes by default on the device. The app is called 'Navigator '. Once inside, look for any web page and access it. Then, activate the dark mode from the shortcuts, in the notifications section. You will see how the web goes to have a dark mode and the text will turn white.
Use split screen in EMUI 10
Use two applications at the same time on any Huawei mobile with EMUI 10. If you are inside an app and need to open another one at the same time, make a cut with the knuckle in the center. You will see how the application is divided and icons appear at the bottom. Select the app you want to produce the split screen. You can also add a split screen from the recent apps panel, by clicking on the icon that appears in the upper right area.
Add a guest user
Activating the guest user is a good option if you want to lend the device to a friend or colleague, but you do not want them to access the personal data of your device. With the guest user you can browse the internet, take pictures or perform actions very similar to those that the administrator can do.
If you want to activate the guest user, you can do it in Settings> Users and accounts> Users and click on the option that says 'Add guest'. To access guest mode you can do it from the icon in the upper area on the lock screen. When you log out and start a new one, you can choose if you want to keep the session or if you want to delete the files, accounts and everything that has been previously configured.
Control the permissions you give to your apps
What applications are accessing the camera? What to our location? It is likely that you do not know it, and applications that should not use your location, are using it because you have given permission to start it. Fortunately, Huawei has an option where we can clearly see what permissions we have given to the different applications. Again, we go to the system settings, privacy section and the option that says Permissions.
There will appear a list with all the permissions and the applications that are using them. For example, camera permission, there are 18 out of 68 applications that have the option to access the camera enabled. If we enter we can see all those who have permission to use the camera. Be careful, this does not mean that the application spied on us, it simply has permission to activate the camera when we need it. For example, in the list is WhatsApp or Instagram, since we use them to take pictures and send or share them.
From this option you can allow or deny the use of each function.
Delete the Google feed
A simple trick to remove the Google feed on the left. On the home screen make a pincer gesture towards the center and you will see how the options menu opens. Click on the settings icon and deactivate the option that says 'Google Feed'. That easy.
