If you have a Huawei mobile you are sure to get a lot out of the camera, and if you don't, you are missing capturing very interesting photos, since the camera application that the company incorporates in most of its devices is one of the complete and interesting. Do you want to know how you can get the most out of it and get some tips? I show you 10 tricks to take better photographs.
It is important to mention that not all Huawei terminals have the same camera app, so not all devices will have the same functions. It is also likely that some settings are not in the same location. I have looked for these tricks with the camera app of a Huawei P30 and EMUI 9.1.
Use manual mode
Huawei is one of the few manufacturers that adds a manual mode on their mobiles. If you are not a somewhat advanced user, it may be difficult to use it, but there are many tutorials on the internet that will help you learn how this mode works. In this case, I wanted to add it as one of the main tricks, since you can even experiment without much knowledge to obtain somewhat more interesting results. For example, adjusting the degree of focus, ISO etc. To access manual or professional mode, we just have to open the camera app and slide on the option that says 'Professional'.
Quick access to camera
Activate the quick access to the camera from the application and take photos faster.
Do you want to have quick access to the camera? This can be very useful for taking a photo quickly. There is an option in the settings that is disabled and allows us to press the volume button to quickly open the camera app and take a picture. To do this, we go to the camera app and touch the settings button that appears in the upper area. Then we go down to the option that says 'Quick snapshot'.
This option is enabled so that the camera shoots quickly with just a double press of the side button. However, in most cases the photos are blurred and it is more advisable to activate the option to open the camera app itself, and not to shoot quickly. In this way we can take a better photo. To open the camera we will have to change the option from 'quick snapshot' to 'Camera'. Now, lock the device and press the volume button twice -.
Don't settle for the first photograph
More than one photo shoot in different modes, angles, shapes... I recommend not filling the gallery with a large number of photos of the same thing, since later it will be more difficult to select the one you like the most. Remember that you can also use the editor that comes in the Huawei gallery, which works very well.
Why turning on AI mode is a good option (sometimes)
Left: AI mode disabled. Right: AI mode enabled with Super macro option.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of the AI mode that the cameras of the Android terminals incorporate. On many occasions they exaggerate the tones of the image and add a quite marked effect. Although I must admit that on occasion I do use this mode. It is a quick way to access some options, such as the Super macro, which allows us to photograph objects at a short distance. This one has a specific mode in the camera app, but since we cannot customize the controls, it is quite far away and it can be uncomfortable to access this mode. By activating the AI option, from the direct access in the upper area of the camera, the device can recognize if we want to take a photograph at close range and activate the Super macro mode. The same is true with portrait mode.
In addition, in some other scenes, the effect that the AI adds to the photographs can be used, although I advise shooting a photograph with the mode recommended by the terminal and another without this option (you can deactivate it from the direct access). So you can see the difference and choose the one you like best.
Use aperture mode for portrait
Huawei incorporates two modes for blurring: portrait mode, which allows us to take pictures with a Bokeh effect of people - and in the last update also objects - and aperture mode, which allows us to create photographs with a much more artistic style, since it really doesn't just blur the background. Your goal is to center one object and blur the rest. For example, a flower on a plant, or a cake on a tray. However, we can take advantage of it to take photographs in portrait mode for these reasons.
Option to change the aperture level from the camera application itself and after taking the picture.
The main reason is because we can choose the level of blur of the background, and this option is not available with portrait mode. We can adjust the blur in real time, when taking the picture -just click on the lens icon and choose the aperture- or, from the gallery app, in the photo editing -press on the lens icon and choose the opening level-
Use on tripod for some scenes
The truth is that it does not make much sense to use tripods on mobile phones, but from time to time it is worth carrying a small tripod to be able to take pictures with better stabilization. This is useful if we want to take an image in night mode, or when the light is somewhat low. In this way we will avoid greater noise.
Take advantage of night mode
Some Huawei phones have a night mucus to achieve better color, brightness and detail in night situations. This mode can be activated automatically if we have the AI mode activated. Otherwise, we can access it manually. always use it when shooting in dark situations, even under artificial lighting. You can also use it indoors, when the light is somewhat low. You will see that the results improve.
In the latest updates, the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro have also received this night mode in the front camera. So you can also take selfies with the night mode to get more light.
Zoom is a good ally
A large part of Huawei phones have a telephoto lens that allows us to zoom in 3x or up to 5x optically, with little loss of quality. Take advantage of the zoom in certain scenes s. For example, to photograph a building and focus on the details of the facade, or to take a more detailed portrait of a person
The wide angle is also useful
Use the large ring finger when photographing landscapes, or even photos with a group of people. If you want to add a more artistic touch to your photos, try using the large ring mode in a vertical position. It will create a different effect that can be interesting for depending on what situations. For example, when photographing a street, a tree or a person.
Make use of voice control
Did you know that the Huawei mobile student camera allows you to use a trigger by voice control? So we can take photographs from a distance, useful if we want to pose and we are alone. To activate this option it will be necessary to go to the camera application, click on the settings icon and access the section that says 'Audio control'.
Here we can select two options. Have the camera take a picture by saying the word 'Cheese' or choose to take a picture by saying anything out loud. In this way the camera will detect that you have made a command out loud and will shoot.
