Android has more secrets than any other operating system. Part of the blame for this is the infinite number of options it offers us, which are not always as visible as would be expected. The best of all is that for most of them we will not need to root the mobile or perform complex processes, at least for the latest versions. Today we have made a compilation of 10 Android tricks compatible with practically any smartphone that integrates the mentioned system.
Some of the options that we will see below depend on both the version of Android installed and the customization layer of the device, reasons for which they may not be present in some mobiles of certain brands.
Modify the status bar icons
One of the most interesting hidden Android tricks of all is to be able to modify the status bar (the one that shows the time and the notification icons) to our liking. If we want to apply it to our smartphone or tablet, we will have to activate the system's UI Configurator settings, which are accessed by holding the Settings wheel icon in the notification bar next to the time until an activation message appears.. Now a new section should appear in the Android Settings with the name that we just mentioned: there we can deactivate icons such as WiFi, Bluetooth and even the time in the Status Bar section.
Change display DPI
Until a few years ago, to change the DPI of the screen in Android we had to resort to root. Nowadays, if we have a version equal to or greater than Android Nougat 7.0, we can do it from the System Settings themselves. For this we will have to go to the Developer Settings (in this other guide we teach you to activate them on any mobile). Once inside we will go to the smallest Width section and select the number of DPI we want (the greater the number, the smaller the interface).
Put apps that are not supported on split screen
Surely you have ever wanted to put split screen applications like Instagram or Twitter. Although Android allows you to put two applications in different windows at the same time, there are some that are not compatible with this option. To solve this we will have to go back to the Development Settings and activate the option to Force the activity size adjustment. From now on all applications can be run split screen.
See all saved passwords
Don't you remember any password saved on Android? If you have Google Chrome, seeing the saved passwords is a child's play. In this case we will open the Google browser and press the three points corresponding to the Chrome Options. Then we will click on Settings and finally on Passwords. Now we should see the complete list of passwords saved in the browser after entering the unlock pattern.
Close the applications completely when we exit them
This Android trick is ideal for those mobiles and tablets with little RAM. We will have to go back to the Development Settings, but in this case to the Destroy activities section. After its activation, once we have exited the application that we are using, its process will close automatically without having to open the Recent Applications section.
Improve game performance
Another of the most interesting hidden Android tricks of the system. Again we will have to go to the Development Options. Then we will look for the sections of Force GPU acceleration and Force MSAA 4x; We will activate them and restart the device for the changes to take effect. With this we should notice a better performance in games, as well as an improvement in 3D graphics.
Force apps to install on SD card
Perhaps one of the most useful tricks for Android. As usual, a few years ago we had to use root to install applications on the microSD card. Now it is possible by accessing the Development Settings mentioned in previous tricks. In this case, the option that we will have to look for is called Force permission of applications externally. When we have activated it, we can automatically transfer all the applications to the SD through the Applications section in the Android settings (only in the case that the external memory is configured as Internal storage when we have installed it on the mobile).
Put two Google Chrome windows to split screen
A very simple trick. If we want to put two Google Chrome windows on the split screen at the same time, as simple as activating multitasking with the corresponding button, select the Google Chrome application in one of the halves of the split screen and click on the three points of Options Google Chrome finally parea select the option of Move to another window. The last open tab will be selected automatically.
Improve Android performance in multitasking
Another ideal trick to improve the battery in Android, since we will avoid the over-accumulation of processes in the system. How could it be otherwise, to activate this option if we improve the performance of multitasking on Android we will have to go to the Development Settings. Once there, we will look for the option to Limit the number of background processes. When we have clicked on it, we can select the number of applications and processes that will run in the background (3 is recommended for mobiles with little RAM).
Duplicate apps without installing other apps
Duplicating applications on Android is very useful if we want to use two different WhatsApp accounts. Although there are applications for such use, we can do it natively through Users. To do this, as easy as going to the Users section in the Android Settings, create a new one and install the applications that we want to be duplicated in said session, be it WhatsApp, Facebook, Clash Royale or any type of software.
