Has Google Play become a headache on your Xiaomi mobile? You are not the only one, many users report in the forums that Google Play has different problems on their device.
Unlike any app that can malfunction on our mobile, Google Play is essential. If it doesn't work properly, the process of downloading new apps or updating them will become a hassle.
How can you solve this? Take a look at the possible solutions of the most popular problems presented by the Google Play Store on Xiaomi.
The Google Play app does not load or does not open correctly
One of the first solutions we try when an app doesn't work properly is to clear the cache and all associated data. And Google Play is no exception.
To do this, go to Settings >> Applications >> Manage applications. You scroll through the list of apps until you find the Google Play Store, open it, and select Storage.
In this section you will find the options to clean data and the cache, as you can see in the image. Then restart the mobile to make sure the changes are applied and that's it.
This should solve any error in the operation of the Google Play app that prevents it from starting on your mobile.
Google Play crashes after opening
If you manage to open Google Play but then it goes blank or freezes, you may have problems updating the app.
So try uninstalling the updates. You just need to go to Settings >> Applications >> Manage Applications >> Google Play. Once you select it, you will find in the lower menu the option to uninstall updates, as you can see in the image.
When you do this, you will see a message like "Configuring Google Play" that is done automatically to check your account and updates. Before that process ends, try opening the app.
If this solution works, then go to Settings >> Update applications automatically and check the option “Do not update applications automatically” so that Google Play does not install the latest version. To check this detail, go to Settings and scroll to Play Store version. If it says "A new version of Google Play Store will be downloaded and installed" with the option to "Accept" it is because you have been able to stop the update.
Still, this is only a temporary solution for you to do the updates and downloads you need at the moment.
I can't install apps or download anything from Google Play
One of the first suspects if we have this problem with Google Play is the storage space of our mobile. If you do not have enough it is normal that you cannot download, install or update the applications.
Google usually generates an automatic message when this happens, but it does not hurt to check this detail. You can do this from your mobile or from Google Play itself from My applications and games >> Installed >> Storage.
Another possible reason for this problem is some recent Google update. So try the solution we suggested in the previous item to uninstall updates. In this case, remember that it is only a momentary solution, but do not spend long time without updating Google Play to its latest version.
A third reason for this inconvenience with Google Play may be the SD card. It may cause conflict if you have not configured it correctly. So try removing the SD card. If you discover that this is the problem you will have to reconfigure it (make sure you don't lose any data in the process).
Google Play does not complete app downloads and updates
There are many reasons and possible solutions for this problem. Let's start with the basics.
Maybe it's a connection problem or some momentary conflict in network settings, so a simple test for this is to turn Airplane Mode on and off in a few minutes. It seems like a silly action but it works more than you imagine.
Another basic detail that you should verify is that the device time is correct. It seems silly but this can cause conflicts with some applications, so go to Settings >> Additional settings >> Date and time. In this section, check "Automatic Date and Time" to use the network data. Restart the mobile or simply close Google Play and reopen.
Do you have a VPN activated on your mobile ? Not all VPNs work properly and this is reflected in apps like the Google Play Store. So try disabling it and then go to Settings >> Connection and sharing >> VPN and make sure it is not enabled.
And if nothing has worked, try the five options that we mentioned in the previous items.
Downloads do not start or are pending
Maybe it happened to you that you want to update, for example, WhatsApp and you get an error or it is pending.
This is a common mistake and can depend on several factors. Most of the time it is the fault of the user who has touched or deleted something that was not supposed to in the settings. So the quick solution is to clear the app data and Google Play cache.
If it doesn't work, go over some details of the setup. For example:
- Check your power saving settings and background operation. Go to Settings >> Battery and Performance >> Battery saver in apps and search for Google Play. Make sure you have it in "No restrictions" mode, as you see in the image:
- Stop automatic updates on Google Play. Open the Google Play app >> Settings >> App updates automatically and check “Do not update…” A setting that you can keep until you download or update the app you want
And if this doesn't work, don't forget to apply the little tip of activating and deactivating airplane mode to confirm that it is not a conflict in the connection.
Downloads are constantly restarting
Does it happen to you that the updates reach 95% and have an error or are never installed? This is a problem with the application that is looping or has an error that does not allow it to finish the process.
For this, any of the options that we mentioned before are valid to solve problems in the Google Play application… from deleting the data, uninstalling the updates to looking for sources of conflict such as the misconfiguration of an SD card. Take a look at the items above to see how to apply these possible solutions.
Google Play requires authentication
Does this message appear when you open the Google Play app? This is a headache because sometimes you solve it simply by deleting the app data and other times it requires you to delete your Google account.
So start with the simplest solutions, which we already mentioned in the first item of this list of Google Play problems. And if it doesn't work, delete your Google account and set it up again. It is a tedious process, and if you don't do it properly, you can lose data. If you want to try, go to Settings >> Accounts and sync >> Google. Select the "More" options and choose "Remove account" as you see in the image:
And then start the process again to add your Google account.
Problems downloading heavy apps
Some users report that they find it impossible to download heavy apps, especially games like PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty. Download a certain percentage and then remain in an eternal wait for the WiFi.
The problem may be that your connection is slower than you think. The only solution is to make sure you connect to a fast connection when doing heavy downloads or resorting to other alternatives. For example, many users use APKPure to download games.
Another little trick that has worked for some is keeping the Google Play screen open while the game or app is downloading and installing.
Downloads are canceled with the screen lock
If this happens to you, don't worry, it can be fixed with just a few clicks. Just open the Security app of your Xiaomi mobile, go to Data usage >> Restrict data usage. Now select the menu of the three dots and choose "Background connection" (or background connection).
Make sure that Google Play is within the list of apps enabled to work in second plan or. If you have that option disabled then any download or update will be canceled when you lock the mobile screen.
Common Google Play errors
In addition to all the problems we mentioned, Google Play also presents messages warning of different errors. These are many, so many that we could make a dictionary of Google Play errors. Some eventually disappear because Google fixes them or new ones appear over time.
In previous articles we already mentioned the solutions to the most common error messages. Take a look if you need to fix one of these problems:
As you can see, the problems presented by the Google Play Store are varied and the solutions depend on many factors. If you have found a solution that has worked for you, you can mention it in the comments.
