If you have a normal mobile, with a storage capacity that is not to shoot rockets, I am sure that on more than one occasion you have received the fateful message. The one that reminds you that your device does not have enough storage capacity.
But there are many solutions. No, you don't have to spend all your savings on the most cutting-edge mobile on the market as long as you have 128 GB of storage. There are other solutions that, although they require more effort and perseverance on your part, can help you cope with your day to day with excellence.
Here are ten tips and strategies to free up memory on your Android phone.
1. Delete photos and videos
If you are one of those who usually capture many photos and videos. Or if you are one of those who exchange a lot of content through social networks and messaging services, it would be interesting that from time to time you clean the memory of your phone of those photos and videos that do not serve you.
You can choose the traditional route and access your mobile gallery to discard all the photos or videos that no longer interest you. However, you should know that there are specific applications to do it in a more automatic way. This is great if you have a lot of files to review.
Gallery Doctor Cleaner is a convenient and useful option. It will automatically identify duplicate or unwanted photos and videos. And you will know instantly how much space you can win.
2. Uninstall applications
How about you check the applications you have installed? It is possible that you have downloaded many and that, without realizing it, you have a good number of tools on your mobile that are of no use to you. We recommend you take a look at all of them and uninstall the ones you consider appropriate.
If you are on the home screen, long press on the icon and choose the Uninstall option. The operating system itself will be responsible for starting the process. You can also do it from the Settings> Applications section. Enter the application you want and click on the Uninstall button.
3. Transfer applications to the microSD card
Another interesting option is to transfer the applications you have to the external memory card. In this way, it will not be necessary that part of your apps are overloading the internal memory of your device. Access the Applications section, within Settings. Select the application that interests you and then press the Move to SD card button.
4. Empty downloads
They send you a document and you download it. You want to check the theater program for the month of October. You also download it. In the end and without realizing it, the download folder ends up full of files. We recommend that you check your downloads often and delete them.
Access the Settings and Storage section. Go to the Downloads section to locate those files that you have downloaded and that you now want to delete. After selecting them, you only have to click on the trash can to get rid of them.
5. Clear application data
If you think that the application data is taking up too much space in your phone memory, you may also need to delete data. There is an option called Delete Data, which will help you to leave the application as new. And start from scratch.
This will come in handy if you have set up different accounts or, in the case of games, to delete all the saved games. Access the Settings again and then, the Applications section. Click on the Clear Data button. And ready.
6. Clear the application cache memory
Another gesture: clear the memory of the applications cache. You can do it from the settings section of each application. In addition to the button to delete the data, you will also find another to delete the data from the cache. What is it used for? Well, you should know that the cache is like a temporary auxiliary memory in which the applications save recurring data.
They are saved even if the application is closed and they serve to make the applications work faster. If too much data accumulates in the cache, apps may end up taking up too much space. So it is worth doing a reset every so often.
7. Use cloud storage
Ok, so far we have given you some tips related to the physical memory (internal and external) of the computer. But what if you start testing cloud storage? Google Drive offers you the possibility of storing part of the data in the cloud. You can make use of the free initial 15 GB, make many reviews as a Local Guide in Google or buy 100 GB directly. A very useful tool is Google Photos.
8. Download a maintenance app
Another option is to download an app to help you maintain your equipment. Be careful: there are many apps on the market that promise to accelerate phone performance to unsuspected limits. And sometimes this is not entirely true.
One of the most common applications is Clean Master. It will do practically everything that we have previously recommended, but in a more automated way. This will save you time. And you won't have to do the tasks one by one. Junk and residual files will be removed and you can free up memory to install new applications or save more photos and videos.
9. Configure your WhatsApp
We all (or almost) have the WhatsApp application installed on the phone. It is an essential tool, because it allows us to communicate with our friends, family and acquaintances. However, every day we witness (sometimes unintentionally) a file exchange like no other. If you are in groups, you will surely receive a lot of images, memes, videos and audio files every day.
If you don't want your computer's memory to fill up with content that you don't need, we recommend configuring WhatsApp in such a way that these files are not automatically downloaded to your phone's memory. Access the application and click on the three configuration buttons to enter the Settings.
Select Data and Storage and choose not to download any files. Not when you are connected to mobile data, or with WiFi. This will save you from seeing dozens and dozens of useless images in the gallery.
10. Spend a few minutes on maintenance every day
That you will not forget. It will only cost you a few minutes of your time and you will save a lot at the end of the month. We recommend that at the end of each day you take a look at all those files that have been downloaded to the memory of your phone. Delete those that are unnecessary so that your mobile gallery or the different folders are not overloaded. In this way, you will save time and you will never be rushed by memory at the least opportune moment.
