2018 has been a year of advances in mobile telephony, we have seen changes in trends, such as the notch in the screen, the triple camera or the beginning of the fingerprint readers on the screen. What does 2019 hold for us? During the last months of the year, the leaks and presentations of some devices give us a clue: the year of frames without screens, at least three cameras and 5G technology has arrived. Below we show 1 0 features that we expect in 2019 mobiles.
Four cameras, three minimum
In 2018 we have been able to see how the triple camera made its way into many devices, it arrived at the beginning of the year with the Huawei P20 Pro and little by little it was other terminals, such as Samsung with its Galaxy A7. In 2019 we will start with the trend of 4 lenses. The Samsung Galaxy A9 has been the first, and it seems that Huawei will also incorporate 4 lenses in its Huawei P30 Pro. In addition, Samsung could present a Galaxy S10 model with four cameras. While it is true that four cameras can be too much, some manufacturers have shown in 2019 that with a triple lens configuration you can achieve results and a magnificent experience, especially due to the versatility offered by wide-angle or optical zoom sensors. Therefore, and especially the main flagships of the companies, they would have to incorporate a triple main camera.
5G: the first mobiles will arrive this year
There is still time to see 5G as a standard, but this year will be a big step for this technology. Many of the manufacturers will launch their model with connectivity this year in such a way to make progress.
What do we get with 5G? Mainly, surfing at higher speeds than with 4G connectivity. With 5G the networks will be powerful enough to be able to apply them to other uses, such as autonomous driving, connected home etc. It is expected that in 2020 it will already be a standard. For now, 2019 will be a key year.
Screens without frames and without notch
The frameless but notched display trend arrived in 2018. This year it seems to be coming to an end. Manufacturers are betting on other methods, such as slide-in camera systems, or in-screen camera phones to remove the notch and frames. Be that as it may, we are sure that this year the notch will disappear in many terminals. Manufacturers will take advantage to include panels with fewer frames, even if they have to use the methods mentioned above.

Improvements in autonomy
In 2018 we have seen manufacturers strive to add more autonomy to their devices and better fast charging. This year we can see more interesting advances, such as graphene batteries in mobile phones, which will allow greater autonomy in a space similar to that of a normal battery today, of about 3,000 mAh.
Flexible screens
The main mobile manufacturers could launch models with flexible screens this year. Samsung has already shown its rumored Galaxy X on occasion, the first terminal with a screen that folds. LG, for example, has a flexible mobile patent registered, as does Huawei or other manufacturers. It is true that it is too early for mobile phones with flexible screens to make a niche, but without a doubt, it is a good sign that we will begin to see them officially.
Wireless charging: a promising standard
Wireless charging is something that has been around for a long time on mobile devices. More and more manufacturers are taking advantage of this technology and implementing it on their mobile devices. In addition, the trend in glass-back design makes it much easier to implement this technology. It is likely that during this year we will see more devices with wireless charging, even in the mid-range. Additionally, wireless charger manufacturers will strive to include faster charging technology.
On-screen fingerprint reader
Again, we have seen the odd mobile with an on-screen fingerprint reader this year, such as the OnePlus 6T. It seems that 2019 will also be the year of screen reader. Samsung could start the year with a Galaxy S10 family with a panel scanner, Huawei would continue it with its P30, even the LG G8 is likely to implement it as well. Of course, we can forget in the mid-range.
Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence is being applied to mobile devices with one main function: to improve the results of photographs. Even so, little by little we are seeing improvements through artificial intelligence in the processor, or even in software. This year we expect a greater application of artificial intelligence, not only for camera uses, but for augmented reality, performance improvements and gaming.
New versions of operating systems
This year it will also come with new versions of the main operating systems. Especially on Android and iOS. Both systems could come with improvements in augmented reality, control of excessive use of the device and with the help of artificial intelligence to improve the experience with the device. We are already seeing it in the different layers of customization, where manufacturers are committed to separating the main elements of the apps, simpler and more practical menus for the user.
