Since the veto of Huawei by Google and other companies of North American origin, the Chinese manufacturer has placed special emphasis on its own applications. If we have a Huawei P40 Lite or any recently launched mobile, Huawei's browser will be the default navigation application that the company has established on its devices. Beyond the differences of the application with respect to Google Chrome, the truth is that it has a multitude of functions and settings that allow us to further customize the experience.
Some of these settings are visible to anyone browsing the browser options. Others, on the contrary, are somewhat more hidden. For this reason we have compiled several hidden browser settings that we will have to activate yes or yes if we want to get the most out of the application.
Recover the password of any website with this trick
Forgot your Facebook password? Like Google Chrome, Huawei's browser automatically stores all the passwords that we have used to log into any web page through the application.
In this case the process is as simple as clicking on the three points in the upper bar and then on Settings. Next we will go to the Passwords section and finally to the website whose password we want to recover. After entering the phone password, the browser will display the password for the page in question.
Customize the Huawei browser home page to your liking
The home page is the interface that the browser shows us by default once we access the application. To personalize it with several of our favorite web sites we will have to go back to the browser settings; specifically to the Home page Settings section.
If we click on the Customize home page section, we can mark the Custom page option as active to manually add the web page that we want to be displayed at the beginning. In this sense, we can add any web page, be it Google, YouTube or Facebook.
Block browser notifications
Have you ever received a notification from a website or from Huawei's own browser? To block all notifications in one sitting we will have to go to the Notifications section in the browser settings. Finally we will deactivate the option News / event notifications that is marked by default in the application.
Change the default theme of Huawei browser
Did you know that you can change the appearance of the browser without resorting to third-party applications? By default, the browser has two types of views, one with a navigation bar at the bottom of the application and the other with a cleaner interface.
To play between these two views we will have to go back to the browser settings and then to the Appearance section. Within this section we can play with the two available options.
Lock images on web pages to save data
A very useful option to save a few data. To activate this option we will have to go to the Toolbox section that we can find by clicking on the three points on the top bar of the browser. Within this section we will activate the option to Block images. Of course, it only supports mobile data. In WiFi networks, the images will load normally.
Move forward or backward between pages through gestures
Huawei's browser has a whole system of gestures that makes it possible to control the application through simple on-screen gestures. To go back on a web page, for example, we will have to execute a gesture from right to left from anywhere on the screen. If we want to advance to another web page we will have to perform this same gesture from right to left.
In case the gestures do not work, we will have to go to the Navigation settings section within the browser settings and activate the option of Swipe to go forward / backward.
Block annoying ads on your Huawei mobile
Within the same section of Navigation Settings we can find another option called Advertising filter that allows us to block any annoying advertisement. This option will not serve to block all advertising, only those ads that invade the entire screen or that interfere with the user experience.
Change the browser font
If the default font of Huawei's browser doesn't seem attractive enough to us, we can always change it to our liking. Of course, whenever we change the default font of the phone, something we can do from the Themes section in Settings. To change the font in the browser we will have to go to the Navigation Settings section; more specifically to the Text Settings option. Now we can modify both the size of the letter and the type of font used.
Prevent web pages from tracking you
Blocking the tracking algorithms of the different web pages is the best way to prevent the advertising shown in the browser from adjusting to our tastes. Again we will have to go to the application settings; more specifically to Security and privacy, where we will find an option called Do not track that we will have to activate yes or yes.
And block cookies from any web page
If we browse the options in the Security and privacy section, we can find another very useful function that allows us to block cookies from any web page. In this way, we will eliminate any possibility of any portal tracking our activity within the browser.
